9 HAIR CARE TIPS FOR STRONG AND HEALTHY HAIR

1. Eat Healthy Diet
A well-balanced diet plays a major role in the growth of hair. A diet rich in protein, vitamin and minerals like calcium, iron, zinc and silica gives strength to hair follicles and helps to prevent hair loss. The Outer covering of potatoes, cucumber and Bean sprouts have a high concentration of silica. Green and leafy vegetables like beans and spinach are a good source of iron and minerals. Vitamin E is an important vitamin for healthy growth of hair. Biotin is essential for hair growth and found in iron rich-food. Protein is also important for good hair growth and can be taken from nuts, whole grains, eggs and low-fat dairy products. Drink a lot of water to rehydrate yourself.
3. Shampoo & Conditioning
Use of the shampoo depends on your hair type. Some of you may need to wash your hair daily or alternate day, for others once a week is enough. Use simple and natural shampoo, like Arnica Shampoo, to remove dirt and extra oil from your hair and scalp. Shampoos loaded with the harmful chemical can damage your hair. Dr. Jyoti recommends that frequently washing of your hairs should be avoided especially for women as they have long hair. Doing shampoo once or twice a week is good for the health of hair.

How to wash your Hair- As per requirement of your scalp, you can wash your hair daily or weekly. The water used for cleansing your hair should not be too hot or cold. If you are suffering from hair-fall, don’t do hard massage on the scalp with shampoo. Take some shampoo and dilute it in some water and then pour it on your scalp. Use your fingertips and gently massage your scalp. Don’t use your nails as it can harm your hair roots.
Conditioning- Never use conditioner at your scalp or hair roots. For better results, apply conditioner only from the middle of your hair to the hair ends and wash them after 2-3 minutes.
4. Drying your hair
Always try to dry your hair naturally. Excessive use of hair dryer for drying your hair can damage them. It also removes natural moisture of hair, which make hair rough and lifeless. Try to gentle with your hair. Use a microfiber towel to pet dry your hair. Vigorously rubbing and using terrycloth towels can tangle your hair and may lead to breakage and damage of hair. If you want to use a blower to dry your hair, then use it when your hair is partially dry. This will provide enough time for your hair cuticle to close up and chances of heat damage will be reduced to some extent.
5. Combing to your hair
Don’t use a comb in wet hair. Brush your hair only when they are dry because hair is weakest when they are wet and brushing wet hair can damage it. To start with brushing or combing, first, use your fingers to separate your hair in small sections. Then untangle your hair with a wide tooth brush or comb to remove the knots and tangles from your hair. Because knots and tangled hair are a major cause for hair breakage. Do not pull your hair forcefully, as it makes them weak.
6. Styling Your Hair
Don’t wait for any occasion to giving style to your hair. A well-managed hairstyle enhances your looks and personality. It provides thickness and volume to your hair. Don’t use conventional styling products that contain harsh and harmful chemicals. Limit the use of heat styling tools like curling wand and straightening iron on your hair as the frequent application of these heat styling tools can damage your hair. They can cause drying and split ends. Don’t tie your hair with the tight band as it can cause brittle hair which ultimately leads to hair damage.
7. Protection from environment
Whenever you go for outings such as to beach or pool, comb conditioner to your hair which helps to protect your hair from chlorine and salt water. If you are going on a sunny day or for sunbath, use a heat protectant that will save your tresses from damage. Wear a hat, cap or scarf if you can to protect hair from over-exposure to the sun, wind and air pollution. Tie up your hair when you step out from home as leaving your hair loose and open in outdoors can damage your hair by drying. Use soft elastic or band for tying your hair, tying your hair too tight again can cause damage.
8. Trimming of hair
On regular basis, you should go for trimming of your hair. You can go for trimming in every 2-3 months. Regular trimming helps in hair growth, remove split ends and give a desired shape and style to your hair.
9. Care of hair during Sleep
If you jump straight into your bed without caring the hair, can lead to damaging your hair. First, comb your hair and remove the bands or clips. Tie your hair loosely with a soft hair band or you can leave them open. Use a silk or satin pillowcase so that the hair can easily glide when you move in your sleep. A cotton pillowcase can cause breakage to your hair. Your sleep pattern can also affect your hair health. Restlessness during sleep can cause breaking of your hair.
